Abstract

The research about Culture, Space and City implies the study in the ways of transformation of the city as much as and of its landscape, and the analysis of people’s relationships with the territory and how from them derive the meanings in the urban landscape. For this analysis of the urban dynamics, the research shows how the functions, the uses, the activities as continuous practices of people in the urban territory they produce changes and sustained permanencies, among others, in the mobility of the social and economic activities, in the urban image and in the structure of the city. As a result of this analysis it is possible to differentiate the function concepts, use, activity and vocation, the relationship between them and their influence in the development in the urban shape. The research is supported on a conceptual mark proposed by the group, compound number “analysis Outline for the city” that appeals to be elaborated in other disciplines as in geography, architecture and history. This outline becomes a tool for the understanding and the interpretation of the city, to observe the phenomena that influence in its development, also to understand the relationships of the community in the urban territory. With this purpose it takes like case of study the Urbanization La Merced, where starting from a historical focus, it is analyzed, it evaluates and it conceptualizes the goods that the uses and the activities have generated in the sector, understanding the possible changes or transformations that are manifested today in their urban structure.
