Abstract

Daylighting performance in workspaces is related to the transformations of the façade openings over time. This research aimed to analyze the behavior of daylighting in models of office buildings in Vitória ES. The methodology used was computer simulations through the DIVA Software in an office room of buildings representing three periods: from 1950 to 1979, from 1980 to 1999 and from 2000 to 2016. The results suggest that the construction typology of the older period presented better result in terms of Useful Daylight Illuminance when compared to the most recent typologies. Regarding glare index, the highest percentage of simulated hours within the intolerable range were recorded on the highest floor, with less obstruction of the sky. In general, the presence of obstructed surroundings had a larger impact on the performance of contemporary buildings.
