Abstract

This thesis for a Master in History was carried out with the objective of remarking the origin of the ideas that gave form to the campus of the National University in Bogotá, with the purpose of demonstrating that what has been considered to be the origin of the modern architecture of Colombia is a project without relationship to the place situation represented by the time and the social particularities of the city that harbors it. Historical texts about the development of our modern architecture and texts referred to the period of the German Reconstruction in the years of the republic of Weimar and the Bauhaus were consulted. The conclusion offers an initial concern with regard to the formation of a theoretical discourse that aims to the formulation of a modern Latin American tropical architecture.
