Abstract
This article describes the main components of the ecological structure of the Bogotá Plateau related to the latitude and topographic conditions that create its specific climate. It introduces outstanding aspects of the tense and contradictory relationships built between urban growth, population increase and these components, calling for a commitment of respect of local architecture to the territory’s ecological structure.
