Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the relationships between Domestic Architecture —built between the 1950s and 1960s— and the geographical characteristics of Colombia. Through the built works, the research exposes the organic link between the territory —the tópos— and the different architectural types that emerged in accordance with it. In particular, houses from the firms Obregón-Valenzuela, Borrero-Zamorano-Giovanelli, and architects Gutiérrez-Arango-Sanint, who conceived houses on the coast, the valley, the hillside and the high plateau, are studied. The reflection focuses on the variations and invariables of building types, in other words, the structure they share and that in which they differ. The above is first accomplished by providing a description of the geography in which they are located, then, it depicts the way in which each of the houses establishes a relationship with the site. Thus, a contribution to the reflection on the 20th century Modern Architecture in Colombia is constituted, with a look at the topological dimension of the house.
