Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • 1. The work is original and unpublished and presents the results of research processes. I confirm that the article has not been previously published nor submitted to any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor). I complete the RevArq FP00 – Declaration of originality, signed (download FP00).

  • 2. Graphic material is submitted in independent, editable supplementary files: images, photographs and figures in JPG or TIFF (each in a separate file, minimum 300 dpi); tables, charts, graphs and formulas in editable format or PDF, not as an image. WhatsApp screenshots or images copied from Word are not accepted.

  • 3. I attach the supplementary forms: RevArq FP01 – Curriculum Vitae (ONE PER AUTHOR, completed in the online form: complete CV) and RevArq FP02 – Research Project Information (download FP02).

  • 4. The article is formatted using the journal's official template (view template) and follows the Author Guidelines: editable Word, double spacing, 12-point font and 3 cm margins, and APA style. It follows the IMRaD structure; the abstract is analytical; all figures and tables are placed within the body of the text, not at the end, with title and source; URLs are provided for electronic references.

  • 5. I hold the reproduction rights or usage licenses (© or Creative Commons) for the graphic material included in the article.

  • 6. If accepted, I will sign the RevArq FP03 – Reproduction and distribution authorization.

  • 7. Artificial Intelligence use declaration: I declare whether I used generative AI tools in preparing the manuscript and, if so, I specify how and for what purpose. I confirm that AI is not listed as an author and that I take full responsibility for the content, including the accuracy of data and references. This should be included in the ‘Contributions and Acknowledgements’ section of the document (see Template).

  • 8. Research ethics: the manuscript adheres to international good practices and ethical guidelines (COPE). When the research involves human participants, sensitive data or fieldwork, I hold the approval of the relevant ethics committee and the required informed consent.

  • 9. Conflict of interest declaration: I declare any financial, institutional or personal interest that could influence the research or its interpretation; in their absence, I declare that I have no conflicts of interest.

  • 10. Authorship contribution and funding (in the template): I have completed, in the article template, the authorship contribution (CRediT) and the funding and acknowledgments sections (entity and project code, if applicable; or a statement that no specific funding was received). I confirm that all listed persons meet the authorship criteria.

  • 11. Data availability: I indicate where the data, primary sources or materials supporting the research can be found, or the conditions for accessing them, where applicable.

  • 12. ORCID identifier: the corresponding author (ideally all authors) has an ORCID registered and linked to their profile on the platform.

Author Guidelines

The Revista de Arquitectura (Bogotá) accepts submissions on an ongoing basis. Manuscripts are processed as they are submitted (Desk Review, editorial review, double-blind peer review and editing), according to the editorial workflow of each section. The main language is Spanish; English, Portuguese and French are also accepted, and the text may be written and submitted in any of them.

Submitted articles must correspond to the recognized categories of research output, be original and unpublished, and meet criteria of precision, clarity and concision.

Article types

The following types, drawn from the National Bibliographic Index (Publindex), are used as reference:

  • Scientific and technological research article: presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects; its structure comprises introduction, methodology, results and conclusions.

  • Reflection article: presents the results of completed research from the author's analytical, interpretive or critical perspective on a specific topic, drawing on original sources.

  • Review article: a document resulting from completed research that analyses, systematizes and integrates the results of published or unpublished studies in order to account for the advances and trends in a field; it is characterized by a careful literature review of at least 50 references.

Articles arising from research-creation or design-based (projectual) research are also accepted. In all cases, sufficient information must be provided for the research to be reproducible and for its contribution to the discipline to be evident. Contributions to the Textos section are also accepted, to a lesser extent, in accordance with the section policies.

Required submission documents

Submissions are made through the journal platform and must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • RevArq FP00 – Declaration of originality, signed by all authors.

  • RevArq FP01 – Curriculum Vitae, one per author.

  • RevArq FP02 – Research Project Information.

In the submission letter, the author states that they are aware of and accept the editorial policy, that the article has not been submitted simultaneously to another publication, that there is no conflict of interest (model RevArq FP06), and that, if accepted, they grant Universidad Católica de Colombia the non-exclusive right of first publication.

From the second page onward, the body follows the IMRaD model: Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion; followed by Conclusions, Contributions and Acknowledgments, References and Appendices. Tables and figures are embedded in the text. The introduction must state the article type and the research framework from which it derives, and form RevArq FP02 must be completed.

  • Format: numbered pages, with the article title in the header; 2.5 cm margins, double spacing, Arial or Times New Roman 12-point font, justified text (see official template).

  • Citations and references: following the current APA style. Footnotes must not exceed five lines or 40 words.

  • Acronyms: must be fully spelled out the first time they are used, with the equivalence in parentheses.

Figures, tables and graphic material

  • Images and photographs: TIFF, PSD or JPG format, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi (colour) or 600 dpi (grayscale).

  • Technical drawings: preferably in CAD or vector PDF format, with graphic and numeric scale, north arrow, coordinates and location.

  • Rights: authors are responsible for obtaining reproduction permissions for graphic material taken from other sources (RevArq FP04a) and for safeguarding data and identities where applicable.

Copyright

Authors retain the copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication under a Creative Commons licence (RevArq FP03). The journal applies a self-archiving policy in accordance with SHERPA/RoMEO, allowing the deposit of the pre-print, post-print and publisher versions, respecting the open-access licence and including the citation note and the assigned DOI.

The journal is governed by international intellectual property standards and, in particular, by applicable Colombian law. Communication is established with the corresponding author, who is responsible for informing the co-authors. Individual contributions are stated in the contributions section. A maximum of five authors is recommended, listed in order of their actual contribution, avoiding honorary authorship. A single author may submit two or more articles simultaneously; if accepted, they will be published in different issues.

Benefits

Upon the author's request, the journal will issue an informational certificate stating the publication of the article and, optionally, detailing the dates of the editorial process and the type of review conducted.
